Philip Hammond announced in the Autumn Budget that they will commit to building up to 1 million homes on the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford corridor by 2050.

Last week the National Infrastructure Commission published their report [Read here] on the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford corridor urging Philip Hammond to earmark £7 billion for new transport links in the “east-west growth corridor” spanning Oxford, Cambridge and Milton Keynes in next week’s budget, and persuade local authorities to build the first new towns in half a century.

The national infrastructure commission, backed by the government and chaired by Labour peer Andrew Adonis, s calling for the rate of housebuilding to be doubled across a swath of central England, to deliver a million new homes.
